About David Fraley

President of the WCHS Alumni Scholarship Foundation

A graduate of West Carter High School in 1979, David enjoyed a 40-year career with Ashland Oil and The Valvoline Company (a subsidiary of Ashland) and is now a consultant UST, a global company specializing in services across multiple industries.

A trade school graduate in Drafting at Ashland Vocational School, David began his career with Ashland Oil as a draftsman at the Catlettsburg, KY refinery in December 1979.

In 1984, David transferred to Lexington to work in Ashland’s data center as an operator. He progressed through a variety of positions before deciding to attend the University of Kentucky in 1988 to pursue degrees in International Marketing and Finance. He continued to work full-time while attending classes, graduating Suma Cum Laude 7-years later with a 3.976 GPA.

Upon graduation in 1995, David transferred to The Valvoline Company as a Marketing Analyst. He was promoted numerous times, working as a Financial Analyst, Assistant Operations Manager in Pittsburgh, PA, before returning to Lexington in 2001 to lead an integration of online forecasting, planning and scheduling tools with SAP.

After the SAP integration, David led a team of process experts who designed and implemented best practices and in 2003, became a member of the Valvoline Supply Chain Planning team.

In early 2004, David was again promoted to Valvoline’s Lubricant Product Line Manager where he was responsible for managing the overall profitability of all lubricant inventory across North America.

When Ashland Oil decided to implement SAP globally across all five businesses, David was selected as the Change Management Lead in late 2004. He led the creation of a global network of over 1,000 Power Users to provide support to 10,000 end users and assist in Ashland’s global expansion of SAP.

Utilizing his experience in 20 plus SAP / process implementations across 20 countries, David transitioned to global project management in 2012 for Ashland and continued in that role until Ashland Incorporated and The Valvoline Company split into two separate, publicly traded companies in October 2016. David joined The Valvoline Company as the Director, International IT – Business Process Execution until leaving in May 2019.

In late May 2019, David joined GenCanna, a startup cannabis company as the Vice-President of Change Management and Process Improvement. After three years, he became a consultant for Endeavor Consulting Group (later acquired by UST) and developed their Change Management program for global clients.

David resides in Lexington, Kentucky and has one child, a son named Christian, who attends the University of Kentucky as a political science and history major.
